Resume With Monsters
William Browning Spencer, 1995, Horror
Imagine your employer has killed a number of employees, re-animated them as zombies, and put them back to work. Imagine further that there are horrible tentacled Elder Gods from beyond angled space who are implementing similar programs in companies all over the world. Put those things together and you have the plot and action of Résumé With Monsters. It received no fanfare at all, since it was published by a small firm and no celebrity or talk-show host talked it up. However, it's entertaining. It was also described by one grumpy old system administrator as "the most accurate rendition of modern corporate business practices since Snow Crash" in a brief Usenet review.
Of course, there are some flaws in the book. The protagonist's girlfriend and the way she met the protagonist broke my suspension of disbelief. The ending isn't insanely great. However, if you don't read this book, you're missing out on an interesting read that you won't find in a bookstore or a library.
