The Teraport Wars, the second Schlock book, collects over a year's worth of Schlock Mercenary comic strips. This is sci-fi storytelling on an epic scale, and Howard Tayler shows he can write well at almost every turn while still putting in a pile of jokes. This story has 30th-century mercenaries, a pile of talking poop with eyes, billions of evil goat-lizards, Really Big Explosions, and mad scientists. In the hands of a lesser author, it'd rate a "meh", but Tayler makes it into an "Oh hell yes!"
